Product Description Give your camera's harsh pop-up flash a makeover! The Puffer flash diffuser gives you the same flattering lighting style used by professionals. The Puffer simply slides into your camera's flash shoe and places the diffuser in front of your pop-up flash. YEAH IT BROKE!!!! November 8, 2008 Tom Miller (Harrisburg, PA United States) The first time I put it on my D200, the mounting base broke in two!!!! I knew from previous reviews this could happened so I was very careful. Didn't matter... I applied very little pressure but it just snapped. It still works ( but you have to carefully align the 2 pieces) and does what it says it will do for the flash, but there is a definite design flaw... For the money I expected something a little better!!!! If it didn't break I'd give it 4 stars....

It broke on me the first try. So I got inspired and used a maxi-pad and it works the same at a fraction of the price, and is a much better conversation-starter at parties.
Great idea needs improvement October 29, 2008 C. Alspaugh (Columbus, OH USA) It does exactly what it is supposed to for an inexpensive price, but the black part that slips into the hot shoe broke on mine a few days after I began using it. I love the idea of not toting my big flash, but this piece needs to be more sturdy. I'm hoping to be able to glue it and continue to use it...
On Nikons - use a dremmel. THEN it will fit correctly October 29, 2008 Elyone (Ohio) It does what it's designed to do - diffuse the harsh light of the pop-up flashes. However, the black plastic is of low quality and will break if you try to force it. I found that the foot will not slide easily into Nikon hot-shoes. What I did was sand down the nub, and the side wall a bit with a small drum attachment on my Dremmel. NOW it fits. It should slide in pretty easily, DO NOT force it. As another revier siad, it's also hard to fir the nubs of the black part into the white part. Here I simply used a TINY bit of grease. (You do NOT want to use to much, or you will get it all over your camera/lens). Here to, do NOT force it. After all this, it will work great!
Worthwhile Addition October 25, 2008 FormElement Design (San Diego)
This was a worthwhile addition to my Canon XSi. Made a notable difference in lighting. It's no substitute for a real flash with a real diffuser, but it's also VERY convenient and small. Build: Pretty good. Plastic but feels solid. Usefulness: Makes the built in pop-up flash actually useful! That's a big deal. Price: Ouch! $25 for two pieces of injection molded plastic! Oh well, it's this or a 3 cent piece of copy paper which is both inconvenient and stupid looking. P.S. - Adding the 3 cent paper in front of this diffuser actually makes it even better. Happy? YES! I still need a real flash though.
